Holy Friday Reflection: Standing Firm at the Cross

Today, as we commemorate Christ's crucifixion, we remember that most disciples fled in fear—but the Theotokos, John, and the myrrh-bearing women remained at the foot of the Cross.

Our Serbian ancestors also stood firm through centuries of hardship, preserving Orthodoxy even under Ottoman occupation. Their courage reminds us that we too must stand firm when facing difficulties in our parish life. The spirit of Kosovo lives in us when we defend our Orthodox traditions with the same resolve shown by our forebears.

As we venerate the plashlanitsa today, let us commit ourselves to standing firm for the truth of our Serbian Orthodox faith, even when this requires sacrifice and courage.

Join us today at 9:00 AM for Royal Hours, 5:00 PM for Vespers with the placing of the plashlanitsa, and 7:00 PM for the Lamentations service.
